Women of Waakisa

Join us for our 2022 Lenten campaign – to celebrate and support the Women of Waakisa.

Waakisa Ministries is a non-denominational Christian charity that aims to provide care and support to young, vulnerable women who are pregnant and alone, and deliver health education programmes to local schools and churches based in Uganda.

These young women can be marginalised and hidden in their culture. Since 2015, teams of Hub students have been honoured to travel to Uganda to meet and live among them – sharing stories; hearing about lives transformed; and having perspectives challenged and changed.

From Wednesday 2nd March – Sunday 17th April, our whole community is hosting a 40-day campaign towards this ongoing work.

Alongside the campaign there will be events and activities offering the chance to explore the underlying issues that Waakisa and others seek to challenge. We will consider the difficulties faced by women in Uganda and in Northern Ireland, and challenged to use our voices and actions, male and female, to speak out on behalf of those who are vulnerable and marginalised.

Join us to celebrate, to pray, to worship, to explore, to advocate, and to raise vital funds for Waakisa.
